Land Acknowledgement

As members of Before You Vote, we acknowledge that we are working on traditional lands known to be part of First Nation Treaties 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, and on the homeland of the Métis. We respect the sovereignty, lands, histories and cultures of all First Nation, Métis and Inuit peoples who call Alberta home. Our work on Alberta’s referendums, particularly the referendum on Alberta separation, recognizes there will be constitutional impacts with adverse effects to the treaty rights of First Nations.

Acknowledging the treaties, the histories and teachings of Indigenous people is essential. But just as important, as we look to the future, we understand our responsibility to work together with Indigenous peoples and communities to fulfill our joint aspirations for an even stronger and more prosperous future for our people, our province and our country.
